Beginning to read and damp nights

One of last night’s pre-bedtime book choices involved numbers.  The main character is counting sheep, and he himself is a sheep.  He gets to nine, then realizes he forgot to count himself.  You turn the page and the only word is “Ten”.  I point to it while Bean is spitting out all sorts of numbers, none of which are actually ten.  We have been working on sounding things out, so I point to the ‘t’ and she gives me a ‘tt’ sound, then she spits out the ‘nnn’ and puts them together into a glorious “TENNNNN”.  I could not have been more proud.

Now, if we could just get two nights in a row without an accident I would really be on Mommy cloud nine.  She has been using the potty for over a year and a half now, during the day.  Night time is a different story.  I did not worry about it,  it would come when she was ready.  Well, she started getting eczema spots around where the pull up covers.  I switched to all dye and perfume free detergent, got her soap free body and hair wash, etc but it did not help.  So, that leaves the pull ups themselves.  Now we have to get down to business.  She got all sorts of “special night underwear” including Diego, Cars, Princess and Curious George and she is really excited about that.  She is also very excited about the prospect of getting to pick out whatever she wants from the dreaded ToysForUs.  She has a hard time when she is really tired.  I feel so bad, she gets so disappointed when she has an accident.  We have only been at it a few days, and so far it has been one for one.  I know she will get it, it is just hard to see her sad.
